The Wiley X Vapor Comm three-lens set combines slim COMM temples with Clear, Grey and Light Rust lenses in a high-wrap Matte Tan frame. The temple design reduces bulk beneath earmuffs and other ear-mounted hearing or communication equipment, while the interchangeable lenses support substantially different light conditions. The complete frame-and-lens system has been assessed against a defined military fragment-impact requirement.

Product description

The COMM temples are slimmer than conventional eyewear arms, helping the frame fit beneath ear-mounted equipment where several items must be worn around the head and ears.

Grey reduces brightness in strong sunlight, Clear provides an untinted view indoors and in reduced light, and Light Rust increases contrast in medium- to low-light conditions. All three lenses fit the same frame.

A shapeable nose piece allows the nose fit to be refined for different bridges, while the Base Curve 7 frame provides a close-fitting, high-wrap profile.

Product fit and comfort view
Fit & comfort

Designed to adjust, built to stay secure

The defining feature of the Vapor Comm is its slim temple design. The reduced temple thickness helps the eyewear fit beneath earmuffs and other ear-mounted equipment without promising the same fit or comfort with every wearer and equipment combination.

The defining feature of the Vapor Comm is its slim temple design. The reduced temple thickness helps the eyewear fit beneath earmuffs and other ear-mounted equipment without promising the same fit or comfort with every wearer and equipment combination.

The Base Curve 7 frame provides a close-fitting, high-wrap profile. Its shapeable nose piece allows the fit at the nose to be refined for different bridges.

The frame is made from lightweight, durable Triloid™ Nylon. Its Matte Tan finish provides a muted, non-glossy earth-tone appearance.

Lens details

Clear

89% light transmission

The Clear lens allows a high proportion of available light through without adding a tint, helping colours retain their natural appearance. It is intended for indoor use, dawn, dusk, haze and overcast conditions.

Grey

15% light transmission

The Grey lens reduces brightness and general glare in strong sunlight while keeping colours close to their natural appearance. It is intended for bright outdoor conditions rather than reduced-light environments.

Light Rust

52% light transmission

The Light Rust lens filters selected blue light to help reduce glare and haze while increasing contrast. It is intended for medium- to low-light conditions where distinguishing details may otherwise be more difficult.

All three lenses are made from strong, durable Selenite™ polycarbonate and provide 100% UVA and UVB protection. Their T-Shell™ coating helps resist scratches and limit surface damage, although scratch-resistant does not mean scratch-proof.

Protection backed by defined testing

This configuration is assessed against ANSI Z87.1, MIL-PRF-32432A, EN.166F.

ANSI Z87.1

Assesses the complete eyewear against defined high-velocity and high-mass impact requirements. These include tests using a fast-moving 6.35 mm steel ball and a 500 g pointed falling projectile; the frame and lenses must remain intact during testing.

MIL-PRF-32432A

Assesses the complete frame-and-lens system against a defined American military fragment-impact requirement. Test velocities vary according to the relevant eyewear category.

EN.166F

Confirms that the complete eyewear has passed a defined low-energy impact test in which the lenses must remain in the frame and must not shatter under the specified conditions.
