The Wiley X Sierra CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Blue Mirror combines an 11% light-transmission lens for deep-water fishing with a lightweight Matte Black, medium-wrap frame. Polarised filtration reduces water-surface glare in intense sunlight, while built-in ventilation helps manage condensation. The complete eyewear has been assessed against defined ANSI impact requirements.

Product description

Polarized Filter 8™ reduces horizontally reflected glare from water and other shiny surfaces. This makes the Blue Mirror configuration particularly relevant to deep-water fishing in intense sunlight.

CAPTIVATE™ technology filters selected wavelengths to increase contrast and help colours and details appear more distinct. The Grey lens base keeps most colours close to their natural appearance while making green tones more noticeable. Its 11% light transmission is intended for intense sunlight and other bright daytime conditions.

Built-in top-corner ventilation vents increase airflow behind the lenses to help manage condensation. A Base Curve 6 profile gives the Sierra a medium-wrap shape for customers who prefer a less enveloping fit than a high-wrap frame.

The frame is made from lightweight, durable Triloid™ Nylon. Its Matte Black finish provides a subdued, non-glossy appearance.

CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Blue Mirror

11% light transmission

Polarized Filter 8™ reduces horizontal light reflected from water, wet roads, windscreens and other shiny surfaces. Around water, reducing interference from surface reflections may make observable features beneath the surface easier to distinguish, depending on water clarity, available light and viewing conditions. CAPTIVATE™ technology manages selected wavelengths by separating areas of overlapping blue, green and red light. The Blue Mirror lens filters selected blue light reflected from water, while its Grey base keeps most colours relatively natural and makes green tones appear more distinct. The lenses also filter selected short-wavelength blue light associated with atmospheric haze and block UVA, UVB and blue light at wavelengths up to 430 nm.

The lenses are made from strong, durable Selenite™ polycarbonate and provide 100% UVA and UVB protection.

Anti-reflective coating: Reduces distracting reflections from the rear surface of the polarised lenses.

Oleophobic coating: Helps reduce smudges and makes oil, dirt and moisture easier to remove.

T-Shell™ coating: Helps resist scratches and limit surface damage, although scratch-resistant does not mean scratch-proof.

Protection backed by defined testing

This configuration is assessed against ANSI Z87.1, ISO 12312-1.

ANSI Z87.1

Assesses the complete eyewear, in its defined tested configuration, against high-velocity and high-mass impact requirements. These include tests using a fast-moving 6.35 mm steel ball and a 500 g pointed falling projectile; the frame and lenses must remain intact during testing.

ISO 12312-1

Sets requirements for sunglasses intended for normal wear and driving, including optical performance, classification and user information.
