The Wiley X Spear is a protective goggle system supplied with interchangeable Clear and Grey shields for bright outdoor and untinted reduced-light conditions. Its adjustable retention, removable Facial Cavity™ Seal and NVG-compatible design support tactical use across changing environments. This configuration does not include the contrast-enhancing Light Rust shield supplied with some Spear sets.
The Clear shield provides 89% light transmission and an untinted view for indoor settings, dawn, dusk, haze and overcast conditions. The Grey shield provides 15% light transmission, reducing brightness in strong sunlight while keeping colours relatively natural. Both shields fit the same Matte Black goggle frame.
The Spear combines an adjustable elastic strap with a removable environmental barrier and compatibility with selected tactical equipment. The complete goggle-and-shield system has also undergone defined military fragment-impact testing.
Clear and Grey cover untinted reduced-light and bright outdoor conditions.
Both supplied shields fit the same goggle frame.
An elastic strap supports adjustment and quick removal.
The Facial Cavity™ Seal helps limit wind, dust, debris and peripheral light.
Compatible with night vision equipment and selected helmet-rail systems.
NATO Stock Number 4240-01-600-1785 supports standardised procurement and inventory management.
The Spear two-shield set is suited to tactical and defence users moving between strong daylight and indoor, overcast or untinted reduced-light environments. Customers who also need a contrast-enhancing option for medium- to low-light conditions should consider a compatible Light Rust shield or a Spear set that includes one.

The Matte Black Triloid™ Nylon frame has a subdued, non-glossy finish and a stated Base Curve 5 fit.
The Matte Black Triloid™ Nylon frame has a subdued, non-glossy finish and a stated Base Curve 5 fit.
The elastic strap uses Tri-Glide™ adjustment and quick-release key connections. Separately obtained Wiley X ARC Rail and Team Wendy rail attachment systems allow connection to compatible helmets, while the goggle design can be worn with night vision equipment.
The removable Facial Cavity™ Seal forms a soft barrier that helps reduce the entry of wind, dust and debris while limiting peripheral light. It does not create a completely sealed enclosure. Symmetrical ventilation allows airflow around the goggles and may help manage condensation, but it does not guarantee fog-free performance or completely exclude fine particles.
The Clear shield provides 89% light transmission without adding a tint, helping colours retain their natural appearance. It is suited to indoor environments, dawn, dusk, haze, overcast weather and other conditions where a dark tint may reduce useful visibility.
The Grey shield provides 15% light transmission, reducing brightness and general glare while keeping colours relatively natural. It is intended for strong sunlight and bright outdoor conditions rather than indoor or substantially reduced-light environments.
Both shields are made from Selenite™ polycarbonate and block 100% of UVA and UVB rays. The T-Shell™ coating helps resist scratches and surface damage but does not make the shields scratch-proof.
This configuration is assessed against ANSI Z87.1, MIL-PRF-32432A, EN.166B.
Assesses the complete goggles against defined high-velocity and high-mass impact requirements. These include tests using a fast-moving 6.35 mm steel ball and a 500 g pointed falling projectile; the goggle frame and shield must remain intact under the specified conditions.
Assesses the complete goggle-and-shield system against the defined American military fragment-impact requirement for its product category.
Confirms that the complete goggles have undergone the defined European medium-energy impact assessment applicable to goggle systems.
