The Wiley X Saber Advanced three-shield set combines Clear, Grey and Light Rust shields with a lightweight, adjustable Matte Tan frame. Its complete frame-and-shield system has been assessed against a defined military fragment-impact standard, making this configuration particularly relevant to shooting and tactical use across changing light conditions.
The Saber Advanced provides three interchangeable shield tints in one adaptable eyewear system. Grey reduces glare in bright sunlight, Clear provides high light transmission where a dark tint is unnecessary, and Light Rust increases contrast in medium- to low-light conditions.
The semi-rimless frame combines adjustable telescoping temples with a shapeable 360° wire-core nose piece. An elastic strap provides an alternative retention method, allowing the eyewear to be adapted to different wearers and activities.
Clear, Grey and Light Rust options support visibility across different light conditions.
Telescoping temples and a shapeable 360° wire-core nose piece accommodate different head sizes and nose shapes.
An elastic strap provides another way to secure the eyewear during active use.
The frame can be worn with night vision goggles.
This configuration has been assigned a NATO Stock Number for standardised procurement and inventory management.
The Saber Advanced three-shield set is well suited to shooting and tactical field use where light conditions may change during an activity. Grey supports bright-sun use, Clear suits indoor or low-light environments, and Light Rust increases contrast when available light is more limited. The adjustable fit, retention options and defined military fragment-impact testing add practical value during active use.

The frame uses Triloid™ Nylon, a lightweight, durable non-metal material. Its low weight supports comfortable wear, while the material contributes to the frame strength required for rigorous safety testing. The Matte Tan finish gives it a muted, non-glossy earth-tone appearance suited to tactical and outdoor settings.

The Clear shield allows a high proportion of available light to reach the eyes without adding a tint, helping colours retain a natural appearance. It is intended for indoor use and low-light conditions such as dawn, dusk, haze and overcast weather.
The Grey shield reduces intense glare and brightness while keeping colours close to their natural appearance. It is intended for strong sunlight and other bright outdoor conditions.
The Light Rust shield filters blue light to help reduce glare and haze while increasing contrast. It is intended for medium- to low-light conditions where distinguishing details may otherwise be more difficult.
All three shields are made from Selenite™ polycarbonate, providing the strength and durability needed for demanding optical safety testing. Their T-Shell™ scratch-resistant coating helps limit surface damage, although scratch-resistant does not mean scratch-proof. Each shield also provides 100% UVA and UVB protection.
This configuration is assessed against ANSI Z87.1, MIL-PRF-32432(GL), EN.166F.
Assesses the complete eyewear against defined high-velocity and high-mass impact tests. These include a fast-moving 6.35 mm steel ball and a 500 g pointed falling projectile; the frame and shields must remain intact during testing.
Evaluates the complete frame-and-shield system against a defined military fragment-impact standard using a .15 calibre projectile travelling at 702–724 km/h.
Confirms that the frame and shield have passed a defined low-energy impact test in which the shield must remain in the frame and must not shatter under the specified conditions.
