The Wiley X Citadel is designed for customers who want one frame that can be adapted for different light conditions and optional lateral coverage. This configuration combines a 15% light-transmission CAPTIVATE™ Red Mirror lens with a Polished White frame and two removable side shields. The complete frame-and-lens system has also been assessed against a defined American military fragment-impact requirement.

The CAPTIVATE™ Red Mirror lens reduces brightness while increasing contrast and helping colours and visual details appear easier to distinguish. Its Grey base supports a broadly natural-looking view in strong sunlight and brightly lit environments.
The interchangeable frame accepts separately obtained compatible lenses, allowing the eyewear to be adapted when activities move between different lighting environments.
Clear and Translucent Black side shields are supplied for additional physical coverage beside the lenses.

Recommended use
The WX Citadel is relevant when activities move between different lighting environments and the same frame needs to be retained. This configuration includes the Red Mirror lens for bright conditions, while compatible alternatives can be obtained separately.
The removable side shields provide an additional physical barrier when lateral coverage is useful.

The removable side shields reduce the open area beside the lenses but do not create a completely enclosed frame. They provide physical coverage only; the impact standards below assess the defined complete eyewear or frame-and-lens system.

CAPTIVATE™ Red Mirror
15% light transmissionThe CAPTIVATE™ lens manages selected wavelengths by separating overlapping blue, green and red light. This increases contrast and helps colours and visual differences appear more distinct. The Grey base reduces brightness in strong sunlight while helping colours retain a natural appearance. The lens also reduces scattered short-wavelength blue light associated with haze and filters ultraviolet and blue light at wavelengths up to 430 nm. The lens has an anti-fog coating that helps resist misting caused by humidity and temperature changes. It is made from strong, durable Selenite™ polycarbonate and provides 100% UVA and UVB protection.
Its T-Shell™ coating helps resist scratches and limit surface damage, although scratch-resistant does not mean scratch-proof.

This configuration is assessed against ANSI Z87.1, MIL-PRF-32432A, ISO 12312-1.
ANSI Z87.1
Assesses the defined complete eyewear against high-velocity and high-mass impact tests. These include a fast-moving 6.35 mm steel ball and a 500 g pointed falling projectile; the frame and lens must remain intact during testing.
MIL-PRF-32432A
Assesses the complete frame-and-lens system against a defined American military high-speed fragment-impact requirement. Test velocities vary according to the applicable eyewear category.
ISO 12312-1
Assesses sunglasses intended for normal wear and driving against defined optical, classification and user-information requirements.
