The Wiley X Citadel is designed for hunting, shooting and tactical customers who want one frame that can be adapted for different light conditions and optional lateral coverage. This configuration combines a 17% light-transmission CAPTIVATE™ Grey lens with a Matte Black frame and two removable side shields. The complete frame-and-lens system has also been assessed against a defined American military fragment-impact requirement.
The CAPTIVATE™ Grey lens reduces brightness while increasing contrast and making green, orange and blue tones easier to distinguish. Its Grey base maintains a broadly natural-looking view in bright daytime conditions and periods of light cloud cover.
The interchangeable frame accepts separately obtained compatible lenses, allowing the eyewear to be adapted when activities move into substantially different lighting environments.
Clear and Translucent Black side shields are supplied for additional physical coverage beside the lenses. They can be removed when that lateral barrier is unnecessary.
Accepts separately obtained compatible lenses for other light conditions.
Provides 17% light transmission for bright conditions and periods of light cloud cover.
Increases contrast and makes green, orange and blue tones easier to distinguish.
Includes two options for additional physical coverage beside the lenses.
Provides 100% UVA and UVB protection with anti-reflective, oleophobic and scratch-resistant treatments.
The complete frame-and-lens system has been assessed against MIL-PRF-32432A.
The WX Citadel CAPTIVATE™ Grey configuration is particularly suited to hunting, shooting, tactical and outdoor activities that take place in bright daytime conditions or periods of light cloud cover.
The Citadel is relevant when the same frame needs to be retained as lighting conditions change. This configuration includes the CAPTIVATE™ Grey lens; compatible alternatives for other conditions are obtained separately.

The Toric Base Curve 5x2 frame is made from lightweight, durable Triloid™ Nylon. Its Matte Black finish gives it a subdued, non-glossy appearance.
The Toric Base Curve 5x2 frame is made from lightweight, durable Triloid™ Nylon. Its Matte Black finish gives it a subdued, non-glossy appearance.
The removable side shields reduce the open area beside the lenses but do not create a completely enclosed frame. They provide physical coverage only; the impact standards below assess the defined complete eyewear or frame-and-lens system.
The CAPTIVATE™ lens manages selected wavelengths by separating overlapping blue, green and red light. This increases contrast and makes green, orange and blue tones appear more distinct. The Grey base reduces brightness while maintaining a broadly natural-looking view. The lens is intended for bright daytime conditions, including periods of light cloud cover. It reduces scattered short-wavelength blue light associated with haze and filters ultraviolet and blue light at wavelengths up to 430 nm.
The lens is made from strong, durable Selenite™ polycarbonate and provides 100% UVA and UVB protection.
Anti-reflective coating: Reduces distracting reflections from the back surface of the lens.
Oleophobic coating: Helps reduce smudges and makes dirt, oil and moisture easier to remove.
T-Shell™ coating: Helps resist scratches and limit surface damage, although scratch-resistant does not mean scratch-proof.
This configuration is assessed against ANSI Z87.1, MIL-PRF-32432A, ISO 12312-1.
Assesses the defined complete eyewear against high-velocity and high-mass impact tests. These include a fast-moving 6.35 mm steel ball and a 500 g pointed falling projectile; the frame and lens must remain intact during testing.
Assesses the complete frame-and-lens system against a defined American military high-speed fragment-impact requirement. Test velocities vary according to the applicable eyewear category.
Assesses sunglasses intended for normal wear and driving against defined optical, classification and user-information requirements.
