Lenses

Frame and lens must withstand the impact of a 22 mm steel ball weighing 43 grams dropped from 1,3 meters at a speed of 18 km/h. The lens must remain in the frame and is not to shatter. The frame must remain intact as well. Certified and tested according to the EN.166 (S) norm – EU. Personal Eye-Protection Standard. Eye-Protection Category: Increased robustness - Spectacles.

The lenses equalize the visible light spectrum to help light enter the eye more uniformly. They keep most colours neutral while enhancing greens; they reduce glare across reflective surfaces; and contrast and colour in outdoor environments are highlighted.

Frames

All Wiley X Frames are made out of virtually indestructible Triloid nylon.

Full Frame Sunglasses with a base curve 8 come with lenses that have a large curvature, which gives the frame a high wrap fit. This means that the sunglasses will enclose your face to a greater extent and, at the same time, give a snug fit. Due to the high wrap design and the enclosed and snug fit, you are ensured a better protection against light in your peripheral field of view.

As such, a pair of sunglasses with a base curve 8 will ensure you an active leisure look, which can keep your view clear and unbothered. The curved lenses and the high wrap fit ensure that functionality is in focus. Additionally, the high wrap fit will protect you against UV-rays from all angles while it, at the same time, protects your vision against water, wind, and dust, to a greater extent. Lens Coating

• Anti-Reflective Coating
  Wiley X utilizes a proprietary oleophobic coating on all Captivate™ polarized lenses to create a smoother lens surface, which helps to keep dust, dirt, oil, snow and water from sticking to the lens. This in turn helps prevent smudging and water spots, making the lenses much easier to clean than an uncoated, standard lens.


• Hard Coating
  The anti-reflective coating eliminates distracting reflections on the back surface of the lenses and ensures optimal conditions for the polaroid filter. Is only available with our polaroid lenses.


• Oleophobic Coating
  Scratch resistant coating protects against damage and extends the life of the lens.
  

Safety Ratings

All Wiley X styles are ANSI rated and EN.166 certified. All frames and lenses are marked with the appropriate ANSI and EN.166 markings to meet legislative site requirements

• ANSI HVP
  Frame and lens must withstand a 3,8 mm projectiles fired at 700-720 km/h (spectacle). Goggles must withstand 5,56 mm projectiles fired at a rate of 594-612 km/h. This ensures our lenses and frames are practically indestructible. Meets or exceeds (US) MIL-PRF-32432 Ballistic and MCEP (Military Combat Eye Protection) standards which supersede all MIL-SPEC standards.


• Ballistic
  Frame and lens must withstand the impact of a 6.35 mm steel ball fired at 164,6 km/h. The lens must remain in the frame and is not to shatter. The frame must remain intact as well. Meets or exceeds (US.) ANSI Z87.1 High Velocity impact safety and optical standards.


• EN.166 F
  Frame and lens must withstand the impact of a 6 mm steel ball weighing 0,86 gram fired at 162 km/h. The lens must remain in the frame and is not to shatter. The frame must remain intact as well. Certified and tested according to the EN.166 (F) norm – EU. Personal Eye-Protection Standard. Eye-Protection Category: Low energy impact - Spectacles.
